Tight and technical, this canyoneering Entrajo Canyon and Chamisa Canyon has potholes, some easy scrambling and rappelling. There will be wading and depending on conditions, sometimes a short swim! No matter the level of the water, exploring this water-carved sandstone Moab slot canyon is a “cool” thing to do for summer fun.

Medieval Chamber may have the BIG rappels, but Chamisa’Canyon’s draw is the “interesting” nature of the hiking and its beauty! This is a great option for a hot day and a classic example of a water-carved Utah canyon, with twists, turns, and slides among the sandstone.

We had a blast in Chamisa Canyon! Our guide, Nathan was knowledgeable, fun to chat with, and great at guiding novice climbers. This tour was fun for both my husband and me (in our thirties and like a bit of a challenge) and my parents (in their early 60s). We’ll book again next time we are in Moab!

Super fun guided trip that includes the right amount of technical rock climbing, scrambling, hiking and rappelling. A great option for hot days with water in the canyons. We waded through a section at our chest height and backpacks over our heads. Nathan our guide was patient and experienced, especially with our group of first timer teens and rusty parents.

If you are looking for a challenge, I highly recommend the Chamisa canyon trip, but you have to be up to climbing up and over rocks. Morning glory is also incredible, but less technical. If you are really up to the challenge, try both. Either way, it’s a great and friendly company.

My family and friends (6 of us total) had an amazing time with Red River Adventures. We went canyoneering with Nathan— who was an *excellent* guide. He was methodical, patient, and great company. We felt 100% safe the whole time— and we ran into the competition out on the route so we have some context. We are very glad we chose this company and can’t wait to go back out with them (& Nathan!) next year for another adventure.

I did the Chamisa Canyon canyoneering trip with Nate this morning. He was knowledgeable, safe, fun, and has such a calming demeanor – Everything I was hoping in my guide while doing something that made me nervous! The trip was well worth it. Definitely challenging physically and mentally at times. There was some technical scrambling, different rope techniques for canyoneering, and then the 90ft rappel. Red River as a company was professional and had easeful operations. Highly recommend.

Perfect for anyone who may be nervous about rappelling. The first rappel is just 12 feet, and the second is optional, making this route ideal for groups who want a spectacular canyon hike without the pressure of big rappels.
Red River Adventures will provide all of the technical equipment required to guide our canyoneering routes: AMGA-certified Single Pitch Instructors and all technical equipment: helmet, harness, and gloves. Due to insurance and liability regulations, guests are required to use the technical equipment provided by Red River Adventures. What you should pack:
Absolutely — Entrajo Canyon is a fun, low-commitment introduction to rappelling and canyon exploration. It’s scenic, beginner-friendly, and a perfect confidence-builder.
A short hike into a sandstone canyon, a 12-foot mandatory rappel, fun scrambling, an optional larger rappel, and pools of water, and, depending on water levels, a 20’ swim.
Yes, but the water is often the most fun part for folks.
Yes! Recommended for ages 8+. The short rappel makes it an easy win for younger adventurers.
Yes. We use a releasable rappel system with two ropes for every descent. This allows your guide to control or stop the rappel at any time, adding a significant safety margin.
Once we start the canyon, we generally do not turn around. However, the short rappel and optional second drop make this route approachable for almost everyone.
You’ll do the 12-foot rappel — the second, larger rappel is completely optional.
Available — just ask, and we’ll tailor the Entrajo Canyon experience to your group.
