This Beginner Splitboard Course is designed for snowboarders ready to explore the backcountry, covering gear selection, travel, and safe riding in avalanche terrain. Led by AMGA/IFMGA guide John Lemnotis, the course also includes an AIARE companion rescue certification.
Our Advanced Splitboard Course in the Wasatch is designed for experienced backcountry riders ready to tackle steeper, more technical terrain, including ropework, rappelling, and glacial travel. Participants will apply advanced techniques to reach and ride challenging objectives safely and confidently.
Our Ski & Splitboard Mountaineering Course in the Wasatch is designed for experienced backcountry skiers and riders looking to tackle steep, technical terrain that may include rope work, rappelling, or glacial travel. Participants will apply advanced tools and techniques to summit and ride bigger, more challenging objectives under the guidance of AMGA and IFMGA-certified instructors.
After years of teaching recreational avalanche courses and gathering feedback, we’ve reshaped how you learn about avalanches and backcountry travel on skis or a splitboard. This comprehensive course combines essential skills from Rescue, Rec Level 1, and Rec Level 2, running from December through March, providing real experience in varied conditions. With a maximum of 6 participants per group, you’ll learn in a low-ratio setting with a qualified, AAA-approved instructor dedicated to both expertise and teaching.

No prior avalanche training is required for these courses.

Yes. Beacon, shovel, probe, and pack are included at no extra cost. Skis, splitboards, and skins are also available if needed.

We keep ratios small (typically 4:1) for personalized instruction and safety.

All clinics are run in Utah’s Wasatch Mountains, offering access to the world-renowned terrain of Big and Little Cottonwood Canyon, located near Salt Lake City.

All clinics are open to both skiers and splitboarders. Select “splitboard only” camps are also available.
