Days Fork, Silver Fork, Cardiac, White Pine & Red Pine – are just some of the places that have made backcountry skiing in Utah world-famous due to their relatively short, moderate approaches to access this classic powder terrain.
Specific tours will vary based on conditions and client requests, but the focus will be on experiencing the Central Wasatch and going where the best snow can be found. Many of these tours start in Little Cottonwood Canyon, followed by skiing down into Big Cottonwood and eventually working our way back up and over into Little Cottonwood again. Tour will be 3,000 to 5,000 feet of climbing and riding.

Great day out with Landon, took us on a tour to show us the safest, most accessible terrain for our experience level, showed us a few tricks to save energy on the climbs, refreshed our avalanche awareness, and suggested some tours for the next few days. Ran into Carl on the skin-track 2 days later, and he gave us some more tips. These guys offer enthusiasm, patience, deep knowledge and experience, without any ego or attitude. Would recommend for any skill level.

My wife and I went with Carl. Incredible backcountry experience!! Powder powder powder.
Really helped us get some back country experience and educate us on a path forward for newbies to be able to split board independently. He is an incredible guide with many years experience and perhaps more importantly a really cool guy.

Had a great day backcountry skiing/snowboarding with our guide John in the Little Cottonwood Canyon area near Salt Lake City, Utah. Snow is a little hard right now, even in the backcountry, but still had a great time and were able to find a few soft spots for good turns. If you are looking for a guide to do a day of backcountry touring in the SLC area, I would definitely recommend Red River Adventures.
