John, an IFMGA Certified Mountain Guide led a backcountry tour for me today. It was a full on mountain adventure with extreme weather. My kind of day in the mountains. John is the epitome of what a guide should be. He is extremely personable, patient, fit, and a master of his profession. A Guide full of experience and knowledge. I learned an incredible amount of information today on mountain travel and avalanche related topics. He took the time to explain and ensure I understood the topics. He also shared tips and techniques that made my experience a 10 out of 10. I plan to hire John in the future. You can’t go wrong asking for John. He’s amazing!

Red River was amazing from start to finish. This was my first backcountry skiing experience and the team was super helpful and answered all my questions as I planned the trip. The gear, instruction, and guiding were all top notch and I would absolutely recommend this company for any of your adventures, especially backcountry skiing. I couldn’t imagine a more knowledgable, helpful, patient, and fun guide – Victoria. She is a true professional and speaks very highly of the company. I definitely lucked out stumbling across their Facebook ad. They take safety very seriously but it doesn’t impede the fun at all. Thank you again for a great trip!

My Dad and I booked a full day guided backcountry ski/snowboard tour in the Salt Lake City Area (Little Cottonwood Canyon). Our guide, John, was fantastic and did everything possible to make the day great. The route was fun and safe, and John gave us a few great options for trails to take. I would definitely recommend using Red River Adventures if you want to find a backcountry guide in SLC.

The skiing features gentle, rolling terrain suitable for a wide range of abilities, slopes with low avalanche danger, and hopefully, a taste of the famous Utah powder. Tour will be approximately 1,500 – 3,000 feet of climbing and riding.
