River Guide
River guides navigate 13-foot and 14-foot inflatable paddle rafts on a Class 2 section of the Colorado River known as the Moab “Daily.” Guides work 5-6 days per week during the peak season (late May through mid-August). All training is provided by Red River and no prior experience is necessary. Guides are expected to be outgoing and personable, with strong communication skills, and will interact with guests of all ages. This is a full-time, seasonal position. Red River is also hiring Trip Leaders with a Wilderness First Aid (WFA) or Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification.
Requirements and skills:
- First Aid and CPR certifications (can be completed online)
- physically fit and able to work in the heat (90+ degrees)
- strong interpersonal communication skills and work ethic
- full-time availability from May through August
- available for week-long training in early May
- FOR TRIP LEADERS ONLY: Wilderness First Aid (WFA) or Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification
Canyoneering and Climbing Guide
PLEASE NOTE: This position requires the AMGA Single Pitch Instructor (SPI) certification and a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification. If you lack either of these certifications, do not apply.
Canyoneering guides lead trips in four canyons ranging from four to six hours in length. Canyoneering trips are more common than climbing trips due to the summer heat. See below for certification and availability requirements. Guides are also trained on the river and may be required to guide rafting trips when necessary. Guides work 5-6 days per week and are expected to be outgoing and personable, with strong communication and safety skills, and will interact with guests of all ages. This is a full-time, seasonal position.
Requirements and skills:
- AMGA Single Pitch Instructor (SPI) certification
- Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification
- strong interpersonal communication skills and work ethic
- physically fit and able to work in the heat (90+ degrees)
- full-time availability from April through August
- opportunities for climb guiding, depending on demand
- willing to guide rafting trips when necessary (training is provided)
CDL Driver
Job duties: CDL drivers transport rafting guests and guides in 36-passenger buses (similar in size to school buses). Drivers must navigate a winding, narrow highway while towing a long flatbed trailer loaded with rafts. CDL drivers will also occasionally drive Red River vans for CDL wages. Drivers usually work 40 to 50 hours a week during the peak season (late May through mid-August). This is a full-time, seasonal position from May through early September.
Requirements and skills:
- CDL, Class B, with passenger endorsement and air-brakes endorsement
- clean driving record
