Ice Climbing Classes & Instruction in Utah’s Wasatch Mountains, Provo & Maple Canyon

This Intro to Ice Climbing class is perfect for climbers with some rock or gym experience, or those who have ice climbed with friends, and want to start climbing independently. Participants will learn modern techniques, safety practices, and how to set up and take down top ropes for single-pitch ice climbing.
The Intermediate Ice Climbing 201 Course is the next step for climbers who have completed Intro to Ice 101 or have basic ice climbing experience. Participants will learn steep ice techniques, practice placing protection, mock lead, and progress toward leading pitches under the supervision of a guide.
The Advanced Technique Ice Climbing Course is for climbers ready to tackle steeper single- or multi-pitch ice on their own. Participants will focus on efficient leading, route finding, mock leading, anchoring, and transitions under guided supervision.

No! Many of our guests are first-timers. We’ll match instruction to your level.

We supply technical ice climbing gear (helmets, harnesses, tools, crampons, ropes). Bring your own boots if possible; we have a limited supply available at no charge.

Our main venues are in the Wasatch Mountains Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons), Provo Canyon, and Maple Canyon—Utah’s best ice.

Most courses are a full day on the ice. Private instruction can be customized to half-day or multi-day.

Your safety is our priority. If ice conditions don’t allow, we’ll relocate or reschedule. If we can’t take you climbing you will receive a full refund.
