This Advanced Technique Ice Climbing Course is the option for those that would like to bring it all together and make the jump to climbing harder Ice Climbs on their own. This course will focus on strategies to efficiently lead steep single or multi-pitch ice. Route finding, both macro and micro, is explored. Participants will mock lead and take the sharp end, anchoring and transitions are also practiced. If you are looking for more intro or intermediate level classes, we also offer an intro to ice 101 course and an intermediate ice climbing 201 course.

Had an awesome time doing some ice climbing, guided by Jake. I was hoping to do as much learning as possible on gear and techniques, and he was fun and full of all the info that I was looking for. Jake and Red River Adventures are both highly recommended.

Brian was great to work with and was very patient with the group. Very informative and had us on the ice within the hour after we got to our destination. Will definitely be using Red River again when visiting. This is the second time we have gone through them, and they never disappoint. Hopefully Brian is around when we come back in a year or so.

Had a bit of an issue with the ice climbing boots (Make sure you rent from Black Diamond, not REI), but after that issue was resolved, Carl and his guide, Billy Jack, made ice climbing an amazing experience. Next time I’m in Salt Lake, I will definitely book another trip through Red River!

The Red River guys were great. Clear, concise instructions to maintain safety during an activity that is, certainly, inherently a bit dangerous. I appreciate their humor and the excellent playlist in the VA. On the way to the climbing site.
